Our Series D FinTech client is building the infrastructure behind how 1.5m+ people save, invest and plan for retirement.

The company reached profitability last year, they currently manage €70bn+ in assets and have generated €6bn+ in interest for customers through 275+ banking partnerships across Europe. Their next chapter goes beyond savings - building a European wealth platform spanning investing, brokerage and pensions.

Role Overview:

You’ll join as Director of Engineering, leading a 40+ person organisation building the technology behind brokerage, investment and pension products.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and develop a multi-team engineering organisation responsible for investment, brokerage, pension and digital wealth products.
• Scale the engineering group while defining the leadership structure, team boundaries and operating model needed for its next phase of growth.
• Drive the technology behind an expanding brokerage proposition, including individual equities and ETFs.
• Evolve the pension platform by introducing broader investment and brokerage capabilities within retirement products.
• Partner closely with Product, Investment and commercial stakeholders to translate new financial propositions into scalable technical systems.
• Support expansion across European markets, adapting products and underlying systems to different regulatory, operational and taxation requirements.
• Balance strategic engineering leadership with sufficient technical depth to challenge architecture, execution and system-design decisions.

Qualifications:

• Strong engineering leadership experience across multiple teams.
• Meaningful exposure to investment, brokerage, wealth-management or closely related fintech products.
• A background combining product thinking with genuine technical and systems expertise.
• Comfortable operating in environments where reliability, transaction speed, financial controls and customer obligations are fundamental engineering concerns.
• Willingness to work from the Berlin office two days per week.
