Our team works in conjunction with our wealth advisors and other in‑house experts to provide tax planning and compliance services to our clients. We are looking for a Tax Director to join our Tax team to deliver tax planning strategies for our high‑net‑worth and ultra‑high net‑worth (UHNW) clients.
Team player, collaborative, and able to work in concert with others. Working Conditions The position may be performed in a professional office environment or from a dedicated home office with no heavy lifting over 10 lbs. The role focuses on client service without the traditional public accounting firm demands, offering a great work/life balance, a fun and supportive environment, and the chance to work directly with a wide variety of clients. There is no audit or assurance work, nor any business development requirements.
Essential Job Functions Partners with UHNW clients to identify their tax goals, analyze their tax landscape and develop recommendations that help them work toward their tax and financial planning objectives. Communicates complex tax solutions to clients using interpersonal communication and relationship‑building skills.
Ensures client retention by building meaningful, long‑lasting relationships and implementing appropriate tax and financial planning solutions. Reviews and signs individual, gift, trust, corporate, and partnership tax returns for UHNW clients.
Provides insight on clients’ current entity structures, family businesses, corporate tax issues and philanthropic strategies. Researches and analyzes sophisticated wealth‑transfer and philanthropic strategies, incorporating federal and state income tax consequences.
Maintains clear and concise communication with clients on all matters related to the delivery of tax strategy and income tax returns. Works with tax staff to respond to tax notices and review correspondence. Performs all other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Minimum 15+ years of public accounting or equivalent tax experience. Advanced degree or designation (e.g., CPA, JD, MS, LLM). Advanced tax code knowledge, application, and accounting skills. Experience with CCH, including Axcess, Workflow, and Practice, and SafeSend is a plus. Highly organized.
Ability to communicate concepts to clients and advisors concisely and understandably. Detail‑oriented with excellent time‑management skills. Client‑first attitude with a passion for providing an excellent client experience. Location Hybrid. Must be within 30 miles of an office and will need to meet clients at the office from time to time.
Preference for West Coast or Mountain locations. Work Schedule Standard business hours Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with Saturdays as needed during tax season. Early or late hours may be required to meet deadlines. Basic technology needs will be provided. Company‑paid short‑term and long‑term disability insurance.
