Director of Nursing / Person in Charge (PIC) – Care Home

Location: Tralee, County Kerry, Ireland

Salary: €75,000 – €80,000 per annum

About the Opportunity

We are currently recruiting an experienced and dedicated Director of Nursing / Person in Charge (PIC) for a nursing home based in Tralee, County Kerry.

This is an excellent opportunity for an accomplished nursing professional to take on a senior leadership position, overseeing the clinical and operational management of the nursing home while ensuring the highest standards of resident care.

We are seeking a compassionate, confident and motivated leader who is passionate about delivering outstanding person-centred care and developing high-performing nursing and care teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and clinical leadership across all nursing and care services.
• Oversee the day-to-day management and smooth operation of the nursing home.
• Ensure the highest standards of individualised, person-centred care for all residents.
• Maintain full compliance with HIQA standards, relevant legislation and regulatory requirements.
• Lead, motivate and develop nursing and care staff, promoting a positive and supportive working environment.
• Manage staffing levels, workforce planning, training and professional development.
• Oversee clinical governance, care planning, risk management and quality assurance.
• Build strong relationships with residents, families, healthcare professionals and other stakeholders.
• Work closely with the Registered Provider to achieve operational, financial and quality objectives.
• Drive continuous improvement across all aspects of the nursing home's services.

About You

We are particularly interested in candidates who demonstrate:

• Registered nursing qualifications and strong clinical experience.
• Previous experience in a senior nursing management or leadership position, ideally within a nursing home or residential care setting.
• A thorough understanding of HIQA standards and the regulatory requirements governing nursing homes in Ireland.
• Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and maintaining high standards of clinical governance.
• A compassionate, resident-focused approach with a genuine commitment to improving quality of life.
• The confidence and ability to oversee both clinical excellence and operational performance.

Previous experience as a Director of Nursing, Person in Charge, Assistant Director of Nursing or a comparable senior nursing leader would be particularly relevant.

Salary & Opportunity

€75,000 – €80,000 per annum
