All Job Posting Locations: Zug, Switzerland.Job Description: As a key leader within the Medical Affairs team, this role provides broad medical leadership across governance, product safety, clinical operations and medical operations including: Lead medical governance and ensure strong standards across the region; Oversee product safety activities in partnership with relevant internal teams; Support pre- and post-market clinical operations across the portfolio; Drive effective medical operations to enable business priorities and patient outcomes.

The successful candidate will work across a dynamic portfolio with an active pipeline of new products and line extensions, partnering closely with regional and cross‑functional teams to advance medical strategy and support business growth.ResponsibilitiesThe primary responsibilities of the Medical Director will include:Providing the overriding vision, strategy, leadership and administrative management of the Medical Department and its constituent teamsManaging a complex web of professional and business‑related interactions with a variety of individuals both within and outside the company, including physicians, industry organisations and KOLs to achieve commercial objectivesPlanning for, and managing the OPEX allocated to the medical activities within budget, making good business decisions on where resources should be deployedProviding medical and scientific support for all licensed medical products to support customer needs, marketing goals, medical issues as well as the ongoing activities related to the safety and efficacy of these productsResponsibility for the planning, organising, and execution of local clinical trials as well as strategic use of global clinical trial programDefining and validating the medical and scientific content of information provided to the medical fraternity with the aim of maximizing their scientific and commercial impactEnsure compliance with global Johnson & Johnson healthcare guidelines, local Code of Conduct and regulationsEnsure compliance with local/global safety responsibilitiesAssist Health Care Compliance Officer in the coordination of company legal issuesAssist the Communications Director and Government Affairs and IMAT Director in handling media issues, particularly those medically relatedMedical and scientific advice to the Executive Board education & SKILLSET requirementsMedically qualified physicianAt least five years experience in the pharmaceutical or medical devices industryAdditional experience serving as a medical professional in a medical devices and diagnostics company would be highly desirableDemonstrable project management skills and experience in analytical evaluation, organisation, delegation, team management, negotiating and resources managementBudget forecast and implementation skills are essentialStrong commercial focus and strategic skills, with sound judgementAbility to offset technical aspects with commercial realitiesMBA qualification desirable but not essentialCommitment to improvement in patient outcomesRequired SkillsAnalytical ReasoningClinical Research and RegulationsClinical Trials OperationsCommunicationConsultingDeveloping OthersHealthcare TrendsInclusive LeadershipLeadershipMedical AffairsMedical CommunicationsMedical ComplianceProduct StrategiesRepresentingResearch ProposalsStakeholder ManagementStrategic ThinkingAt Johnson & Johnson, we believe health is everything.
