Summary
This position is located on a Forest Service unit and serves as Director.
The incumbent provides leadership and guidance to the unit with the responsibility for planning, development, and evaluation of unit policies, initiatives, and high-profile efforts within the Agency.
Major Duties
Serve as the principal advisor to leadership and external agencies on complex policy, operational, and administrative matters of national significance, providing authoritative guidance that shapes agency direction and program outcomes.
Lead the development and implementation of new programs, activities, and organizational strategies to address emerging, high-priority issues; design innovative solutions that improve the effectiveness, efficiency, and long-term strategic positioning of the unit.
Oversee processes that define and evaluate short- and long-term strategic objectives, ensuring alignment with Department-level goals; conduct continuous analysis and performance assessment to inform mission-critical decisions.
Direct the formulation and presentation of annual and long-range program budget plans; provide expert guidance to field units and senior leadership on resource needs, funding strategies, human capital requirements, and program execution.
