For our client — a globally expanding automotive group with a strong international footprint and long-term investment in design innovation — we are seeking a Design Director (Interior & Exterior) to join their Advanced Design Studio in Munich.
This leadership role offers the opportunity to define and drive the overall design vision for both interior and exterior design and to shape the future design identity of an internationally growing automotive brand.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead the creative direction of Interior and Exterior Design, ensuring a consistent and distinctive brand design language.
• Define and implement design strategies aligned with global brand positioning and future product direction.
• Guide design teams from early concept phases through design maturity and production feasibility.
• Provide leadership and mentorship to design teams, fostering a strong and collaborative studio culture.
• Review and steer design proposals to ensure alignment with brand DNA and innovation targets.
• Present design concepts and strategies to senior management and global stakeholders.
• Collaborate with engineering and product teams to ensure successful design integration into development programs.
Qualifications & Experience
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Transportation Design, Automotive Design, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 12 years of automotive design experience with exposure to both interior and exterior design.
• Proven leadership experience in a senior design role within an OEM or established design studio.
• Strong track record of production vehicle programs and advanced concept development.
• Excellent design judgment with strong understanding of proportion, surfacing, and brand differentiation.
• Strong communication and leadership skills with experience working in international environments.
• Fluent English required; German or Mandarin would be considered an advantage.
