Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree or advanced degree in child development, early childhood education, elementary or secondary education, home economics (early childhood emphasis), elementary education, special education, or other fields appropriate to the position.

For positions in School-Age facilities, the education must have been in youth development, youth administration, secondary education, physical education, child development, early childhood education, home economics (early childhood emphasis), elementary education, special education or other fields appropriate to the position to be filled such as directly related behavioral science.

OR one of the following: Option 1: A combination of education and experience. Education: 24 semester hours in the majors stated above or a related field (see above), plus appropriate experience.

Experience: • 12 months experience working in group programs with children/youth as well as demonstrated knowledge in theories and principles of child growth/youth development of which 6 months must be in a supervisory position. • The McCormick Credential. Option 2: A combination of education and experience.

Education: 24 semester hours in the majors stated above or a related field (see above), plus appropriate experience.

Experience: • At least 12 months experience working in group programs with children/youth as well as demonstrated knowledge in theories and principles of child growth/youth development of which 12 months must be in a supervisory position.

In addition to the above qualifications, candidates who possess the following qualifications will be considered "Highly Preferred" or "Best Qualified": • At least three (3) years of DoW Child and Youth Services managerial experience. • Experience working with Boys and Girls Club of America. • Experience working with after school programs.
