Associate Director/Director, Portfolio Strategy and Operations, Cardio Renal Metabolic Development Unit (80–100%)

Overview In this role, you will enable informed portfolio decisions for the Cardiovascular, Renal and Metabolic Development Unit by leading governance, analytics and executive reporting. You will partner with senior leaders to drive cross-functional alignment and execution of Development Unit priorities, while shaping strategy and operational excellence. The position offers visibility and impact across the development portfolio, including milestones and resource planning. You will work with global teams to enhance decision quality through digital tools and data-driven insights. Coordinate portfolio and strategy activities such as pipeline progress, governance milestones, and external communications. Provide portfolio analytics, milestone/tollgate reporting, risk assessments and executive insights for leadership reviews. Partner with Global Program Heads and senior leaders across Development, Medical, Commercial, and Investor Relations. Drive portfolio resource planning and assess capacity, capability needs and execution risks. Design and improve processes for portfolio prioritization, resource allocation, risk management and decision-making. Identify opportunities to leverage digital technologies, data analytics and AI-enabled workflows to enhance transparency and decision quality. Guide Global Program Teams on governance requirements and portfolio decision preparation.

Track objectives and commitments, flag risks and overdue actions, and maintain leadership governance. Support the Development Unit Head and Leadership Team on high-priority matters and foster a collaborative unit culture. Exchange best practices with Operations teams across other Development Units. Mentor Operations colleagues and deputize for the Head of Portfolio Strategy and Operations when needed. Zentrale Anforderungen Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in life sciences, business, strategy, project management or related discipline. Strong relationship-management and influencing skills across global, matrixed teams. Excellent analytical thinking, attention to detail and ability to translate complex portfolio data into executive recommendations. Ownership mindset with a drive for continuous improvement in workflows and deliverables.

Proven ability to synthesize complex portfolio information into clear executive communications. Experience in pharmaceutical/biotechnology development or related environment (e.g., consulting). Understanding of drug development, portfolio governance, and cross-functional interfaces.
